EDS Homecare's story begins in 1999 with a lady from Eyam called Elsie who needed homecare support so that she could continue living in her own home.
Prior to launching the homecare business, Lucy and Tim Waller were running Eyam Dale House Care Home, in Eyam, but with Elsie's need for professional care support within her own home, Lucy and Tim saw the opportunity to expand their operations.
With Lucy's nursing expertise and Tim's business acumen, Eyam Domiciliary Service was launched and Elsie received the care she needed so that she could remain at home. Over the next 20 years, EDS Homecare organically grew into the highly regarded business it is today.
During 2019, the company’s twentieth anniversary, EDS Homecare began a management buy-out process, to transfer the ownership of the business to Kate and Jake Ward, who from April 2020 became the company's new owners.
Kate, the managing director, is a Registered General Nurse and gained significant experience in acute medicine at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
She holds a number of health and social care specific qualifications, including NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care Management, Level 3 Mental Capacity Award and Train the Trainer for First Aid.
As a director of the company, Jake is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the business, from invoice queries through to payroll.
Jake completed his Level 5 in Health & Social Care Management in 2019 to ensure he is well placed to consider all areas of company finance from a health and social care perspective and to do all he can to support members of the team.
